What is pH?
pH stands for percent hydrogen.
It's a measure of the total hydrogen ion concentration
in the water. The pH scale ranges from zero to 14 with
7 as the neutral point, indicating the presence of equal
concentrations of free hydrogen and hydroxide ions.
pH values below 7.0 indicate acidity, with 0 most acid;
pH values above 7 indicate basicity, with 14 most alkaline.

0 Acidic |
7 Neutral |
14 Akaline |
The pH scale is logarithmic.
Below 7, for each decrease of 1 pH unit,
the acidity increases 10 times.
Above 7, for each increase of 1 pH unit,
the alkalinity increases 10 times.
example: a pH of 4 is 1000 times more acidic than 7
| How does your water compare? |
| pH |
Resulting Condition |
| Below 6.5 |
Highly acidic and corrosive. |
| 6.5 to 7.0 |
Mildy acidic - still damaging. |
| 7.0 to 9.0 |
Neutral water - ideal. |
| Above 9.0 |
Special recommendation necessary. |
