1. We don't consume 35 gallons of water a day. Why do I need a Reverse Osmosis system with that much capacity?
Consider this...
Dinner has just been prepared and you want to get an additional glass of water. The Storage Vessel was emptied to prepare the meal. Let's assume it's a 24 GPD* Reverse Osmosis system. In approximately 1 hour, it will produce another gallon of pure water. It would take 3.75 minutes to produce an 8 oz. glass of water.

A smaller system, a 5 GPD* system, would produce 26 oz. per hour. You could tap an additional glass in 18.5 minutes and the system would again be depleted.

When considering the capacity of a Reverse Osmosis system, recovery time is more important than the total water production per day.

2. How does it work?
Reverse Osmosis works using water pressure. No electric is used and it has no moving parts to wear out. Just like any quality product, it does however take annual maintenance to continue providing top quality food and beverage water for your family.

3. Will the system fit under my sink?
Yes. The Storage Vessel is approximately 10" in diameter and the Reverse Osmosis system itself is approximately 15" wide by 18" high by 7" deep and is designed to hang on the side of the cabinet. If available space is an issue, it can be installed in the rafters of your basement with only the pure water supply tube running through your cabinet.

4. I have an ice maker/chiller on my refrigerator. Can I have pure water there as well?
Yes. The pure water supply tube can be tee'd and a pure water supply tube can be run to the refrigerator.

5. What does a Reverse Osmosis system remove from my water?
Chlorine. Heavy metals like lead and cadmium. Chemicals like PCB's and TCE. Bacteria and most viruses. For a more comprehensive list, check the Table of Rejection Rates.

6. I'm on a municipal water supply. Should I consider a Reverse Osmosis system?
Yes. We can't rely on the government and the local water companies to provide us with quality drinking water. They do the best they can with limited resources and funds but it's not practical or cost effective for them to supply us with food grade water.

Consider...

90%
Fighting Fires
Watering Lawns
Swimming Pools

10%
Utilized in the home
Laundry
Toilets

1/2 of 1%
Consumed

90% of the water supplied to us by municipalities goes to fighting fires, filling swimming pools, watering lawns etc. Only 10% is actually utilized in the home for bathing, laundry and flushing toilets. And only 1/2 of 1% is used for consumption. It would be impractical and very costly for the municipality to provide food grade water for all of those non-consumption activities. We need to rely on ourselves to provide food grade water for our families.

7. I buy bottled water. I don't need a Reverse Osmosis system.
Bottled water is expensive and doesn't have any higher standards to meet than the Federal Water Quality Standards, which all municipal water companies must meet. Bottled water has reached the $1.00 per gallon rate in some areas. A Reverse Osmosis system can cut that cost by over 75%, year after year. Plus, you know the quality of the water your family is consuming. Add the inconvenience of lugging all those bottles home and a Reverse Osmosis system with pure water on demand sure does make sense.

8. What maintenance does the Reverse Osmosis system require?
There are 3 - 10" cartridge type filters on the system which must be replaced annually. The Reverse Osmosis Membrane has a service life of 3 - 5 years, depending on your feed water quality. All of them are very easily replaced and can be changed in a few minutes.
Top

9. Can I install the Reverse Osmosis system myself?
Yes. The system installs with a few very basic tools. All of the R/O grade tubing is connected with Quick-Connect fittings. If you can use a screw driver and a drill, you can install a system in minutes.

10. How will I know when to service my Reverse Osmosis system?
There are several ways to do this. One way - we will mail or email you an order form for the necessary replacement items 11 months from your purchase date indicating it is time to service your Reverse Osmosis system. Your convenience and satisfaction is important to www.Pure-Water.com.

11. Is there a warranty on the Reverse Osmosis system?
Yes. Our Reverse Osmosis systems include a Limited Lifetime Warranty. See our Quality Assurance section for full details.

12. I saw a Reverse Osmosis System with bayonet cartridge filters. Are they any better?
No. The main reason for using bayonet cartridges is locking you into their service plans. Plus, based on the size of the internal cartridges, they also have a shorter effective life. We prefer to use the larger 10" Reverse Osmosis grade cartridges.
Top

13. How will I know my Reverse Osmosis System is working?
Included with the items necessary for servicing your Reverse Osmosis System, is a Water Sampling Kit. We will test your water and make sure your Reverse Osmosis System is working at peak efficiency. The Water Sampling Kit is FREE with your service items.
